What We Believe
Our covenant of faith and commitment.
Peachtree Baptist Church Covenant of Faith and Commitment
At Peachtree Baptist Church, we are united by our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and our commitment to live as His disciples. Having experienced the grace of God through salvation, we joyfully enter into this covenant with God and with one another as members of His church.
Our Statement of Faith
We believe in God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth, infinite in wisdom, power, holiness, and love. We rejoice in His mercy, trust in His providence, and worship Him as Lord over all.
We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Through His sinless life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection, He has provided salvation for all who trust in Him and the promise of eternal life.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who convicts of sin, regenerates the believer, indwells God’s people, and empowers us for holy living and faithful service.
We believe in the Authority of the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired Word of God, the sufficient rule for both faith and practice.
We believe in the Priesthood of the Believer in that every believer has the freedom and right to interpret and apply scripture under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We affirm the freedom and responsibility of every person to relate directly to God without the imposition of creed, the control of clergy or the interference of government.
We believe in the Competency of the Soul in Matters of Religion that every person stands as a competent individual before God and is responsible to determine what his or her conscience dictates is right.
We believe in the Autonomy of the Local Church in that Baptist churches are free, under the Lordship of Christ and guidance of the Holy Spirit, to determine their membership and leadership, to order their worship and work, to ordain whomever they perceive as gifted for ministry, and to participate, as they deem appropriate, in the larger Body of Christ.
We believe that Salvation is by Grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, and that every believer is called to live a life that honors God and reflects the transforming power of the gospel.
We believe in Believer’s Baptism by Immersion is the New Testament model and that it is to be administered upon a person’s profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
We believe in Religious Liberty and Freedom for all people, regardless of creed.
We believe in the Separation of Church and State in that religious liberty is best protected when church and state are institutionally separated and neither tries to perform or interfere with the essential mission and work of the other.
Our Covenant Commitment
Therefore, trusting in God's grace and relying upon the power of the Holy Spirit, we covenant together as members of Peachtree Baptist Church:
- We will walk together in Christian love, seeking to encourage, strengthen, and care for one another as members of the family of God. We will pray for one another, bear one another's burdens, and lovingly restore those who stray.
- We will faithfully gather for worship, prayer, fellowship, and the study of God's Word, recognizing the importance of encouraging one another in the faith.
- We will strive to live lives worthy of the gospel, pursuing holiness, integrity, humility, and Christlike character in our homes, workplaces, and communities.
- We will steward faithfully the time, abilities, and resources God has entrusted to us, supporting the ministries of this church and advancing the mission of Christ throughout the world.
- We will seek to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others through both our words and our actions, praying and laboring for the salvation of the lost.
- We will endeavor to raise future generations in the knowledge and instruction of the Lord, teaching them by both example and truth.
- And when we leave this fellowship, we will unite with another Bible-believing church where we can continue to worship God, grow in grace, and serve faithfully in His kingdom.
May God grant us the grace and strength to fulfill these commitments, for His glory, the good of His church, and the advance of the gospel until our Lord Jesus Christ returns.
"To Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."
